Life will never be a circus
I have seen death more than once and fought my way through to keep my place in the flock. Even with ten knives in my heart,
balancing like a juggler – life will never be a circus.
At one Pennsylvania hospital between 1972 and 1981, patients recovering from gallbladder surgery were put in whichever room was free. That makes the window a matter of chance. The geographer Roger S. Ulrich went through ten years of those records and found 23 patients whose window faced a stand of trees and 23 whose window faced a brick wall. The tree group left sooner, took fewer strong painkillers and drew fewer negative remarks in the nurses' notes.
