The city faces the storm
The city faces the storm and survives the sorrows those in power handed us for fifty years.
Satellite images at 10-metre resolution show how much vegetation stands within 300 metres of every home in Italy, across 7,904 municipalities and 49 million adults. The epidemiologist Orazio Valerio Giannico and colleagues used them to ask what would follow if the whole country were as green as its greenest quarter already is. 28,433 deaths a year would be prevented and 279,324 years of life saved. That is about 5% of the country's mortality burden.
