I will not surrender my origin

We are divided by the betrayal you promised would never separate us from what we vowed. But never will I surrender my origin

or the self-image I forged through the pain you let slip from your hands one summer night.

The public health researcher Emily J. Rugel and colleagues scored every address in metropolitan Vancouver for natural space, then asked the people living there how they were. Where the share of natural space within 500 metres rose by one point, people were about 5% more likely to say they felt a very strong sense of belonging to their community. Those who felt it scored better on every mental health measure the study recorded.
